Jacob “Bboy Boogie B” Riley has been a devoted practitioner of the original style of Hip Hop Dance, “Breaking” for 21 years. During this time, Jake has Jake has traveled both nationally and internationally, winning over 45 competitions. In August of 2014, Jake co-founded Minnesota’s first dance studio dedicated to Hip Hop and Street Dance called, “House of Dance Twin Cities”. In May of 2016, Jake graduated from North Hennepin Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, along with a certificate in Entrepreneurship to further his management skills at the studio. In June of 2018, Jake and his wife, Bao, founded their 501c3 non-profit called, “House of Dance Foundation” to further provide classes and programming to a greater outreach of people in the Twin Cities and beyond. Since HODF’s inception, HODF has been a three-time recipient of the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council Flexible Support grant, along with the 2024 Metropolitan Stat Arts Board (MSAB) Arts Experiences grant. HODF has also acted as a fiscal sponsor for local artists and dance companies such as BRKFST Dance Co. Today, Jake is a father of three and co-owns House of Dance Twin Cities alongside his wife, Bao Riley. Today, House of Dance Twin Cities is in its 12th year of operation, having served thousands of students, hosted over 10 local dance events, competitions, guest workshops, community Q&A forums and more. Jake is the lead choreographer and coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx Breakdancing on court performance group, the “First Ave Breakers” and has been performing with them for 15 years. He has worked with companies such as: Target, Boston Scientific, Red Bull and Monster Energy on dance related projects. Additional notable performance experience includes dancing alongside platinum selling recording artists such as: Vanilla Ice, Montell Jordan, Quad City DJs, Bell Biv Devoe and performed alongside Justin Timberlake for theSuperbowl LII Pepsi halftime performance at the US Bank Stadium in February of 2018.
